1/2 Day Sea Kayak Tour
On this short sea kayak tour in Paracas, you’ll explore a part of the National Reserve within Paracas Bay.
After a brief safety briefing and testing the paddling equipment, you’ll set off early in the morning from Santo Domingo (which will also be your return point).
Stretch out your arms as you’ll be paddling for 5 km across the calm waters of Paracas Bay, near the wetland protection zone, looking out for the diverse birdlife and stunning landscapes, including Cerro Colorado and Cerro Lechuza. These formations were once revered by the ancient Paracas inhabitants, and the famous Paracas Cavernas mummies were discovered here.
Tip: If you’re looking for a longer adventure, we offer a full-morning version of this tour. It more than doubles the distance and includes a picnic on a deserted beach for just $20 per person extra.
Your Local Impact
Paracas Bay is one of the most iconic and biodiverse bays along the Peruvian coast, yet it faces threats from illegal fishing and mining that require greater protection. By using this area in a low-impact way, we aim to raise awareness of sustainable alternatives for development. This bay is vital for hundreds of bird species, both resident and migratory, and for families of bottlenose dolphins who hunt small fish in its waters. It’s also a place rich in ancient history and breathtaking landscapes.
This experience is designed to be as sustainable as possible. By paddling with your own energy, you won’t disturb the animals with noise or release harmful gasses into the atmosphere. The kayaks provide access to places motorboats can’t reach, and during the tour, you’ll have the opportunity to remove marine litter from the sea or beaches.
