14 Days: San Ignacio - Hopkins - Ambergris Caye - Barrier Reef

Activities: Jungle Adventures, Ancient Mayan World, Cave exploration and tubing, Garifuna communities, birding, chocolate making, beach, snorkelling

Day 1: Your Belize adventure begins with a scenic transfer to Black Rock Lodge, located in the heart of the rainforest. Kids can enjoy the natural surroundings, with the chance to spot wildlife like howler monkeys and toucans. The lodge offers family-friendly hikes and opportunities for learning about the rainforest ecosystem.(B)

Day 2: At Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) Cave, explore the “Cave of the Stone Sepulcher.” A 3-hour adventure through caves and ancient Maya artefacts will captivate kids, especially with the fun of wading through streams and trekking in the jungle. It’s an exciting and educational experience. (B/L)

Day 3: Experience the ancient Maya site of Xunantunich by horseback, a fun way to travel while exploring temples, pyramids, and ceremonial plazas. The panoramic views from the top are unforgettable.(B)

Day 4: The whole family will love swimming in the Rio On Pools, a series of refreshing natural waterfalls, before heading to Caracol, a vast ancient Maya site with large pyramids and plazas. It’s an engaging way for children to learn about ancient civilisations while surrounded by jungle.(B/L)

Day 5: Take part in a hands-on chocolate making experience and learn about the history of chocolate with the San Antonio Women’s Association. Have a go at roasting and grinding cacao, as well as making your own chocolate bars. The day also includes a traditional Maya cooking experience, where families can enjoy a homemade lunch.(B/L)

Day 6: Cave tubing in the Jaguar Paw area is a thrilling activity for families. Children can float through mystical caves, navigating small rapids, and discover the underground wonders of Belize, including ancient Maya ceremonial sites. Afterwards you will head to your next destination, Hopkins. (B)

Day 7: Spend a relaxing morning at the beach before heading to the Palmento Grove Garifuna Centre. Kids will enjoy dressing up in traditional Garifuna outfits, learning about the culture, husking coconuts, and taking part in a cooking class to make a traditional fish dish. Drumming lessons follow, where you’ll have a go at learning Garifuna rhythms.(B)

Day 8: After a leisurely breakfast you will make your way to the port at Belize city and take the water taxi over to Ambergris Caye. Here you will be met and taken to your wonderful hotel for the rest of your stay.

Days 9-12: Unwind at X'Tan Ha Resort. Enjoy snorkelling at Hol Chan Marine Park, exploring vibrant underwater life including sea turtles, rays, and sharks, or just relaxing on the beach. Plenty of opportunities for family fun in this island paradise!

Take time to explore the island at your own pace. Kids can enjoy snorkelling trips, bike rides, or simply play on the white sandy beaches. Ambergris Caye offers a laid-back atmosphere perfect for relaxation.

Day 13: On your final day, take a short flight back to Belize City for your return journey, reflecting on the unforgettable family experiences in Belize. (B)
