Hacienda Hato Verde is a family run property that has been beautifully restored and looked after allowing guests to step back in time and enjoy this slice of Andean history. Surrounded by lush private gardens is situated just a few minutes south of the main entrance to the Cotopaxi National Park, with clear views of the volcano. It also has one of the only private access points to Cotopaxi National Park making the perfect place to get on one of their beautiful horses and explore with a local cowboy. Six luxurious rooms accommodate up to 15 people where you can enjoy home cooked meals and relax in the cosy living room with open fireplaces. From the hacienda, there are many important tourist attractions such as the markets and indigenous groups of Saquisilí, Latacunga, Pujilí and Ambato, as well as the picturesque lakes of Yambo, Anteojos and Quilotoa lagoon

Why we work with them

Sustainability is literally at the foundation of Hato Verde with the house being extensively refurbished with locally sourced materials and using only the local techniques for building. All their staff are form the local area and they employ numerous policies, including tree planting and waste management, to keep their operations running sustainably. Where they really shine however is in their dairy ranch set within their own 86 acres of land, using only Ecuadorian labourers. The products from this ranch are sold and used buy the local community and along with this most of the food you will eat at the hacienda is sourced locally or from the farm, such as butter, milk, eggs and cream.
