3-Day Costa Rica Rafting Adventure Experience
Experience the evergreen region of Turrialba with its fertile volcanic mountains. This tour includes climbing Costa Rica’s second largest volcano, listening to the earth rumble and seeing the smoke rise from its core. On clear days, you will be able to enjoy a unique vista of both the Caribbean and the Pacific Ocean.
Rafting in Costa Rica is a must for thrill-seekers and the Pacuare River is one the five best rivers for rafting worldwide. The natural beauty of this river is as much of the experience as the white water, a superb combination of adventure and nature. You will also have time to meet and learn about the lives of the indigenous community of Cabécar de Jameikäri as they regale you with stories over the evening campfire.
Day 1: In the morning visit Turrialba Volcano National Park. If the park is closed due to volcanic activity, you can hike through wonderful primary, secondary and eucalyptus forests at the Bosque de Prussia. The afternoon is at your disposal. Accommodation at Guayabo Lodge. (B)
Day 2: Start your rafting adventure at the Pacuare River with class 2 and 3 rapids. On the way, swim in the natural springs and our hear your guide tell you about the reserve. At Jameikäri camp taste an authentic Cabécar lunch and then settle into your room. For the rest of the afternoon, you can decide if you prefer to rest, swim or take an optional hike to the natural springs where you can do a bit of bird watching. In the evening enjoy a carefully prepared dinner and cultural exchange. Accommodation at Jameikäri in well equipped tents with shared bathrooms. (B/L/D)
Day 3: After breakfast, continue your river adventure through class 4 rapids. You will be close to the finish point, but first pass through the famous Dos Montañas rapids in a beautiful natural canyon.
