Bellavista Cloud Forest Lodge is a rustic lodge situated on the edge of the great Mindo Cloud Forest, only a short drive form Quito. Whilst he accommodation is on the basic side the lodge offers unparalleled views over the cloud forest with guides and the hotel owners that are passionate about the forest and the birds that live within. There are feeders on the balconies which attract the delicate hummingbirds to feed on the nectar and the area surrounding the lodge is home to around 300 species of birds. Bellavista is a lodge that was built to bled into the forest, giving you a chance to feel as close to the surrounding nature as possible. The trails leading form the lodge let you explore the famous cloud forest and guides can make sure you see as many birds as possible on your stay. If you don't mind the crazy hour, an early morning trek to see the Resplendent Quetzal is highly recommended!

Bellavista is not just a lodge, it plays a very important part in conserving the Ecuadorian Cloud Forest. The owners Gloria and Richard took the risky decision to start the Bellavista reserve in 1991, starting off with just 57 hectares. Fast-forward to today and they now directly nd indirectly protect 700 hectares of healthy cloud forest.
