Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1: You’ll arrive in Peru’s bustling capital, where our friendly driver will greet your family at the airport and take you to your hotel in Miraflores. A WhatsApp group will be set up for easy communication with our local partners throughout your trip. The evening is free to relax or explore. Day 2: Spend the day soaking up Lima’s vibrant culture. If you’re an active family you might choose a bike tour through the bohemian Barranco and modern Miraflores neighbourhoods or explore the colonial city centre using the Metropolitano bus. Museum lovers can visit the Larco Museum or MALI Art Museum, while adventurers might try paragliding over the coast. Day 3-5: Today you’ll take a short flight from Lima to Puerto Maldonado and journey deep into the rainforest for a family-friendly experience at Refugio Amazonas Lodge. Travel light, as unnecessary luggage is stored safely before a scenic boat ride to the lodge. This is your chance for you and the kids to enjoy wildlife sightings en route and immerse yourself in activities like guided hikes, canoeing, and night safaris, all led by knowledgeable local guides. Day 8: Today will be special for any foodie and a chance for the whole family to see what life is like for other families in Peru. You’ll hike through a serene valley with llamas to Aunt Juana’s home in the indigenous community of Pacchac in the Pumahuanca Valley. There, you will help to prepare a traditional Pachamanca lunch, cooked underground with native ingredients, all while enjoying the mountain views. Day 9: Experience Andean culture in Patacancha, learning to spin, dye, and weave alpaca wool alongside local artisans. Each intricate pattern and colour tells a story, offering insight into the Andean worldview. Lunch features a delicious Pachamanca dish cooked by the community and enjoyed together. Day 10-11: This two day experience is a great way to experience the magic of Machu Picchu as a family. You’ll begin with a scenic train ride before trekking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Along the way, you can explore Wiñay Wayna’s terraces and enjoy sunset views from the Sun Gate. Return to Machu Picchu the next morning for an in-depth guided tour of this ancient marvel before heading back to Cusco via Ollantaytambo. Day 13: Discover Cusco’s history with visits to Qenqo, Sacsayhuamán, and the charming San Blas neighbourhood. End the tour at the Sun Temple and enjoy free time to explore the city further. In the afternoon you’ll spend a couple of hours learning how to make chocolate as well as trying three types of delicious Mayas chocolate drinks - yum! Day 16: Wake up to the tranquility of Lake Titicaca before returning to the mainland to conclude your unforgettable journey through Peru.

Andes: Oct is the driest season offering the best views, however it is cooler. Nov to Apr is warmer but wetter with lots of cloud cover obstructing the views.
